The Submarine and Incursori Command (also known by the acronym of COMSUBIN), whose official name is

"Teseo Tesei" Underwater and Incursor Grouping, is the Navy Grouping responsible for carrying out

unconventional warfare operations in aquatic environment and underwater defense.

The COMSUBIN GOI is the only unit of the Navy which is part of the Italian special forces.

COMSUBIN through its Schools Group is the only entity dependent on the Ministry of Defense authorized in Italy

the issuance of patents and military diving qualifications. The headquarters of the grouping is located in Le Grazie al Varignano,

the promontory which forms the western end of the gulf of La Spezia and immediately east of Porto Venere.
