The 185th Parachute Regiment Reconnaissance and Objective Acquisition "Folgore" (abbreviated to 185º RRAO)

is a department of the Italian Army, inserted in the special forces since 2018, made up of specifically selected personnel

and trained, particularly trained and equipped to conduct the full spectrum of tasks typical of "Special Operations",

particularly specialized in conducting Special Reconnaissance and Terminal Fire Guidance Operations.

Furthermore, the 185th regiment has a distinctly intelligence "vocation" and specializes in direct action

which provide for the engagement of "remote" targets (ie with "stand-off" mode) using the equipment supplied

and all land, air and naval fire platforms. The "RRAO" normally operates by infiltrating operational detachments

equipped and trained to operate "beyond enemy lines", at a great distance from friendly forces and in complete tactical isolation.
