This type of military unit uses armored vehicles that can be wheeled or tracked and supports other armored forces

in attacking and breaking through enemy lines or holding positions in defense.

Thanks to the mobility allowed by the vehicles it is equipped with, these tasks are also combined with those of exploitation

attack (in case of breakthrough of enemy lines) and those of mobile reserve (together with the aircraft troops).

These latter tasks are shared with modern cavalry (often also armored)
