The M1 military helmet has been used by the US Army since World War II,

until it was replaced by the PASGT helmet in 1985. For over forty years, the M1 was the standard helmet for

the armed forces of the United States, and has become an icon of the American military. Its design has inspired other armed forces around the world.

The M1 helmet is very popular with collectors of militaria, and WWII helmets

they generally have more value than later models.

Both World War II and Vietnam M1s are becoming increasingly difficult to find.

Those with original and unusual rare markings or some kind of documented history tend to be the most expensive.
